HEADS UP

Warwickshire Virtual School for Children in Care, Previously in Care and Children with a Social Worker

The Virtual School strives to ensure that all Children in Care experience high quality education tailored to meet their needs.  To support schools to develop staff knowledge we have a comprehensive training offer for Designated Teachers in schools, colleges and nursery settings.

Training

Statutory guidance states that DTs should attend 2 days of training per year, related to the role.

Annual Designated Teacher Training

The morning session will be delivered by the Educational Psychology Service who will focus on why it is important to create trauma-informed classrooms and school organisations and how settings can begin to achieve this.

The afternoon session will be delivered by Virtual School Education Advisers with a focus on:

  • Words have power and the use of language.

  • The child’s view – what does a ‘good’ DT look like?

  • Previously Children in Care.
