ICYMI – Energy Efficiency in Schools

On 6 December, the Department for Education announced that schools and colleges in England will be allocated a share of £500million to spend on energy efficiency upgrades. There’s a good few details missing from the announcement, including how the funding will be allocated, the arrangements for payment or monitoring of spend, but it suggests that on average primary schools will receive £16,000 and secondary schools £42,000.

The intention is to help schools to save on bills during the winter months and also to improve energy efficiency by investing in improvements such as installing better heating controls, insulation to reduce heat loss, or switching to energy efficient lighting. We’ll share more information when it’s available.
