Virtual School for Children Looked After

At the Virtual School we continue to strive to close the gap in academic performance for Children Looked After while also providing advice for Children Previously Looked After and children with a social worker.  If you are a setting with Warwickshire Children Looked After then your Designated Teacher will have received an email from their linked Education Adviser to outline the support and training that the Virtual School can offer this year.

We are delighted that the full day Designated Teacher training will be held face to face again allowing Designated Teachers to network, and benefit from a morning session delivered by the Education Advisers on-

  • What makes a good PEP meeting?
  • The impact of PP+, interventions and use of EEF
  • The importance of high aspirations and longer term career goals
  • SDQs

The afternoon session will be delivered by the Educational Psychology service and will be a focus on mental health in the context of the pandemic. This session will focus on the impact of the pandemic in terms of anxiety and coping strategies, especially for our most vulnerable children/young people and the staff who support them. The Zones of Regulation will be introduced as a framework to support emotional regulation.

Termly network meetings will continue – thank you to all those who shared their practice last year. Please let us know if you would like to share this year. Previous topics have included: use of SDQ, transitions, PP+, record keeping for SEMH and the voice of a foster carer.

We look forward to continuing to work in partnership to support Children Looked After.
