Heads Up 26 May 2023

HEADS UP

Dear Headteachers,

I hope you are all going to have a relaxing break as we head to half term and steady ourselves for the last six weeks of the school year.

After the break, please don’t forget the Heads Conference on 6th June which will include some co-production on the SEND strategy, a look at priorities and also a discussion on the proposed new fair access protocols.

Also on the agenda is a contribution from IMPACT, our young people representing the voice of SEND and I know they are looking forward to this event.

In terms of staffing updates see below:

SEND

Duane Chappell is leaving Warwickshire County Council on June 12th  having secured a role elsewhere and we wish her the best in her future endeavours. In the short time I have worked with Duane she has been very passionate about SEND services and works tirelessly to ensure the best outcomes for young people.

Ross Caws will act up in Duane’s role and the post will be advertised in the next week or so.

School Improvement

Leah Adams will be joining as strategy lead on 13th June and we look forward to welcoming her as the newest member of the County Council's Senior Leadership Team for Education.

Have a great break and I hope to see you on the 6th June.

With best wishes

Johnny Kyriacou,

Assistant Director for Education Services.
