HEADS UP

Dear Colleagues,

Regular attendance makes such a difference to the lives of children and young people in your schools. It means they benefit from the skills, care and dedication of your staff and all the opportunities and facilities that you offer. Recent data suggests that attendance overall in Warwickshire is something we focus more on, including implementing the national changes by September 2023.

As part of this I highlight the message from the DfE that has come round to us all this week:

173 Warwickshire schools have signed up with the DfE to share their daily attendance data. The data will help the Local Authority to better understand attendance in Warwickshire and identify areas for support.  If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel to contact the Attendance Service: was@warwickshire.gov.uk

ACTION: An invitation for schools to share daily attendance data and use attendance reports to view severe absence

73% of schools in England are now sharing daily attendance data with us. Sharing data gives you access to daily attendance reports on view your education data After you share data, we’ll email you when your reports are ready to view. This can take up to 4 weeks.

We have listened to user feedback, and you can now use the reports to view severely absent pupil data. This is when a pupil is absent for at least 50% of the time. This group is a top priority for schools, as outlined in our guidance.

To share daily attendance data, please accept the request in your Wonde portal. If you do not use Wonde, you should have an information email from them. You can email Wonde directly if you have not received this.

If you have not been able to access your reports, please read our help article.

You can also view a public dashboard for pupil attendance and absence in England, so you can make local authority, regional and national comparisons.

Best wishes

Chris Baird

Interim Assistant Director for Education Services.
