Heads Up 23 September 2022

HEADS UP

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to this week's edition of Heads Up. Following the Queen's funeral I am sure there is a sense of getting back into the new term and I wish you all well for the school year. Our headteacher briefings continue, so please join them when you are able to be updated with latest developments and useful information on what's taking place in Warwickshire. We will see over the coming weeks what the new cabinet and government under Prime Minister Truss has in store for education.

I mentioned previously that the local authority was considering the DfE initiative to work with a small number of local authorities to develop a local authority multi academy trust. We decided not to submit an expression of interest for the first round. Given the emerging criteria and proposed focused work with a small number of local authorities (possible around 10 across the whole of England), with the priority being given to local authorities in Priority Education Investment Areas, or Education Investment Areas, we felt it appropriate to see what comes from the pilot work and assess any learning and how that might benefit Warwickshire. We will keep you updated as information emerges.

Finally, I wish Ian Budd well for the future, please see the message from Nigel Minns, Strategic Director People in the Celebrating Warwickshire's Family of Schools section.
Best wishes

Chris Baird,

Interim Assistant Director for Education Services.
