Dear Headteachers,
We come to the end of the summer term and this is our last Heads up before school break up. What a whirlwind start! I only joined WCC on 1st March and in that time so much has happened. I have enjoyed my introduction to the county and want to give huge thanks to all school leaders who have made me feel welcome to the county as well as young people and the parent/carer forum. It’s a fantastic county with so much potential and so many dedicated and committed schools that make a real difference to our young people every day.
We have set about a path of better communication with schools with a newly formed Warwickshire Education Partnership Board, due to meet in September for the first time. We have started a pre-consultation process for a revised Fair Access Protocol and in the new academic year will be prioritising a review of the current AP system across the county. There are also some new strategies that will be in train, including a new school effectiveness strategy, SEND and Inclusion strategy and last but not least the overarching Warwickshire Education Strategy, which can you find and comment on here https://ask.warwickshire.gov.uk/insights-service/education-strategy-2023-2030/
I do hope you all manage to have some time off over the summer to enjoy a well-earned break with your loved ones, ready to go again in September.
With best wishes
Johnny Kyriacou,
Director for Education Services.
