HEADS UP

Dear Headteachers,

Hello all.

It’s been a really productive week and the highlight was attending a young people's event on Tuesday evening at Shire Hall where presentations were made by young people with breakout rooms taking place to discuss young people’s experiences in the education system.
This feedback will be used to inform various strategies such as the Education Strategy and the new SEND Strategy, as well as to enhance the voice of young people.
Internally, as an LA, we have been having staff workshops to talk about the education services and our approach to working with schools and stakeholders. These have been very productive, and we recognise that there are areas we can improve on to be an even more effective service and to start to create a stronger presence with schools in a more joined-up way.
As the weeks go by in my post, I continue to be very impressed with my colleagues at the county council and their dedication and commitment to young people and wanting the best outcomes. There are really strong foundations to build from.
Next week I am meeting with the Primary Chairs Consortium network and looking forward to meeting them all and have the opportunity to hear a bit more about feedback on LA services and how we can strengthen our partnership work.

In the meantime, enjoy your weekends and see you next time.

Johnny Kyriacou,

Assistant Director for Education Services.
