Heads Up 10 March 2023

HEADS UP

Dear Headteachers,

I have now completed 5 days in post at WCC as I write this, and it’s been a whirlwind of a positive start.

In the past 5 days, the education strategy has been discussed at the Education Challenge Board and garnered good feedback from School Leaders, which will help to refine the strategy. Further work will continue into the summer.

I have also attended a meeting with county councillors on an education task and finish, group who are planning to visit some schools to look at effective practise and understand the education landscape better. It is great to see such commitment.

I have been receiving many invites from heads and CEOs to visit schools and to attend some consortium meetings. I am extremely grateful for these invites and will endeavour to carry out visits after Easter. I will try my best to fit in a few beforehand as well.

Everyone should receive a reply acknowledging receipt from my PA – Samantha Sills (samanthasills@warwickshire.gov.uk) – but if not could you please follow up in a few weeks’ time as I want to ensure nobody is missed and no one thinks I have not got in touch with them.

Have a great weekend when it arrives.

Best wishes

Johnny Kyriacou,

Assistant Director for Education Services.
