HEADS UP

Greetings Colleagues,

A bumper week for national government to set out the way forward for education and also consult formally on proposals for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The Schools White Paper Opportunity for all strong schools with great teachers for your child  brings together a number of strands that have been well publicised or in place. The minimum school week has gathered some significant attention. The emphasis on a Trust led system is throughout the paper, including the potential role of Local Authorities. There is much to consider and work through and that is what Warwickshire County Council colleagues will be doing over the coming months. Engagement with schools and understanding your views will be a critical component of this.

The SEND Green Paper is a very extensive document and its publication starts a 13 week consultation period. It is important to respond. Much of what has been worked on over the recent period in Warwickshire and also what is planned means the area is well placed to take this agenda forward.

In other news Sue Casey, Delivery Lead Governor Services leaves Warwickshire Council and we thank her for her dedication and services.  Julia Kenny takes over the role.

Best wishes,

Chris
