Heads Up 4 October 2018

HEADS UP

WelcomeChris

This week sees the launch of the new Leadership Team in WCC. Following David Carter’s announcement that he will be retiring in March 2019, Council will be recommended on the 16 October, to appoint Monica Fogarty as Chief Executive from April 2019. The Council is consequently recruiting two new Strategic Directors to join Nigel Minns in leading the three Directorates which are People, Resources and Communities (David and Monica currently cover these Strategic Director roles as well as their Joint Managing Director roles; hence the vacancies).

Education and Learning sits in the Communities Directorate. From this week, and following extensive assessments, there are 12 new Assistant Director roles, replacing Heads of Service. There are several vacancies which will be filled. I am covering the role of Assistant Director for Education Services until early December and a substantive post-holder is being recruited. We will keep you updated on this recruitment, which I am sure you agree is crucial to the success of our Education Strategy. Any questions on this, do email el-businessimprovement@warwickshire.gov.uk . Meanwhile I am looking forward to three school visits being the highlights of my week, continuing to recognise the importance of listening to the views of headteachers.
