HEADS UP

Ian BuddWelcome

Welcome to this week’s edition of Heads Up.

I hope you all had a chance to go through the ethical leadership dilemma. You will find a new section to your weekly newsletter which will feature the moral dilemma of the week and the model answer to the previous dilemma. I hope that as the weeks go on, you’ll start seeing how the ethical leadership framework is helping to inform your decisions in your schools.

With the summer holidays nearly upon us, I’m pleased to see some really nice features this week that will help bring the year to a close. Following recent figures published by the Department for Education (DfE), the Warwickshire NEET (not in education, employment or training) stats are some of the best in the West Midlands, and the country as a whole. I would like to thank all secondary schools and FE colleges for providing good careers information, advice and guidance to their pupils which is clearly having a positive impact on post 16 destinations. You can read more about the figures here.

Some further research has been commissioned by the DfE on child development and learning in reception. The study has provided teachers with some fascinating findings that should help inform how primary school teachers approach learning in lessons. If you feel this will benefit your teachers, have a look at the research and the findings here.

Once again, I really appreciate your ongoing hard work and support. I look forward to hearing about the responses you make to the ethical leadership dilemma, I will also be having a go myself!

With best wishes

Ian Budd
