Prevent duty guidance updates

You may be aware that the Prevent duty guidance ( Prevent duty guidance: Guidance for specified authorities in England and Wales (publishing.service.gov.uk) has been updated to reflect recommendations of the Independent Review of Prevent (Independent Review of Prevent - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) to help schools and early year providers to prepare before it comes into effect on 31st December.

What's new?

Whilst there are no new legal requirements, the changes provide greater clarity, practical advice and signposting to best practice - this includes the ideological causes of terrorism, managing risk, information sharing and updated terminology - and Ofsted inspectors will be using the guidance to better support inspection of Prevent duty.

The DfE has also produced new risk assessment templates (Prevent duty: risk assessment templates - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) for all education phases and refreshed guidance for DSLs and those with safeguarding responsibilities (The Prevent duty: safeguarding learners vulnerable to radicalisation - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
