Sustrans Big Pedal 2021

big pedalWarwickshire County Council’s Road Safety Education Team are supporting Sustrans Big Pedal, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge running between 19 – 30th April.

Active travel has never been so important and has so many benefits for children, families and schools, including being great for children’s physical health and mental wellbeing and helping to reduce congestion and air pollution outside the school gate.

Warwickshire Road Safety Education Team would like Warwickshire schools to get involved! Schools will compete to see who can record the highest number of pupils, staff and parents taking active journeys to school. Pupils learning remotely can complete a physical activity at home or take another active journey with a family member. There are fantastic daily prizes to be won including accessories and equipment to help children travel actively.

The challenge is free to enter and schools can sign up to the Big Pedal 2021 by visiting www.bigpedal.org.uk and remember to contact us at roadsafetyeducationsafer@warwickshire.gov.uk to let us know how you are getting involved!

If your school is interested in promoting active travel and would like to participate in similar activities, why not sign up for our FREE Safe and Active Travel Award Programme. For more information contact Rachel at roadsafetyeducationsafer@warwickshire.gov.uk
