Warwick Scholars applications now open!

WarwickScholars

The University of Warwick's widening access programme called Warwick Scholars is now open to applications.

Warwick Scholars aims to enable participants to reach their full academic potential and prepare for the transition to Warwick, achieving the best possible A Level grades. It will include mentoring from current undergraduate students, regular access to the academic department to which students plan to apply, 1:1 online tuition for one of their A Level subjects, skills support, and information, advice and guidance around the transition to Warwick.

Successful participants will be eligible for a 50% tuition fee discount throughout their degree as well as an alternative offer of between 2-4 grades below the standard offer. In addition, they could receive a bursary of up to £2,000 per year of study. This will run alongside continued support throughout their studies with priority access to careers advice and guidance, as well as help accessing work experience, internships and study abroad opportunities.

Current year 12 students, intending on applying to Warwick for 2022 entry, who live or attend a state school or college within the local authority areas listed on the map can apply, and places will be allocated according to our eligibility criteria as outlined in the attached brochure. Applications will be made online, and will close on Monday 31st May 2021.

All undergraduate courses at Warwick are included in the programme and will be given equal consideration, but they are particularly interested in receiving applications for their Arts and Humanities courses, so they would be grateful if you could forward this information onto your colleagues in these departments.

Further information is available on their website at www.warwick.ac.uk/warwickscholars.

They will be holding online information sessions about the programme for prospective applicants at the following times:

Thursday 29th April - 5pm

Monday 10th May - 5pm

Alternatively, you can request a virtual session for your students.

COVID-19 Youth Champions Course

The COVID-19 Youth Champions Course is a new initiative with the purpose of establishing an additional channel of engagement with young people across the county regarding COVID-19 prevention, correct information, and messaging, and promoting vaccinations.

The course is jointly planned with Public Health, Warwickshire County Council’s Marketing and Communications Team, and several other partner agencies that will be involved in the delivery of presentations. As this is the pilot course, we are looking for young people, aged between 16-18, from across the county to complete the course, provide feedback for any improvements they feel need to be made or changes to the course and to become first COVID-19 Youth Champions. These champions will receive weekly information updates from Warwickshire County Council and will embark upon their own individual COVID-19 action plan.

The course is free of charge. It is non-accredited, but participants receive a certificate and will be reimbursed for their time on completion, as a thank you. Full details including all course dates can be found in the attached Youth Champions Course flyer.
