Early Years Qualifications Checker Update

The lists of qualifications that meet DfE's criteria for counting in the early years foundation stage framework staff:child ratios have been updated.
When making employment decisions providers should pay particular attention to the following sections:

• Full and Relevant

• Assessed Performance

All provision working within the EYFS must comply with the statutory requirements for staffing qualifications and ratios. Please check that current staff continue to hold full and relevant qualifications.

The requirements for different types of early education are set out in Section 3 of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Failure to comply is a breach of legislation. Schools operating Foundation Stage Units should pay particular attention to the requirements for nursery children when mixing age groups.
