Ice safety message and resource from Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service

Following the tragic incident in Solihull where four children fell through ice on a lake, and reports of young people seen playing on ice in Warwickshire since, Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service (WFRS) would like to reiterate some key safety messages for spending time near water in icy conditions.

This article - https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/news/article/3661/help-us-to-protect-you-and-your-loved-ones - shares our plea to all to stay away from frozen water and talk to children and young people about the risks.

In addition, this resource from the RLSS - https://bit.ly/rlss-ice-safety - can be used to help educate children about the dangers associated with icy water, an essential part of keeping them safe.

We hope you find this information useful. For further support from our service with educating children and young people about water and fire safety, please contact Sara Beirne (sarabeirne@warwickshire.gov.uk) or Rebecca Roberts (rebeccaroberts@warwickshire.gov.uk) on 02476 314376.
